JON ROOT: “THE EYES HAVE IT”

BI Senior Center/Community Lobby Show September 1-30

Jon Root has been a member of BIPC since 2007. He has been involved with visual media throughout his working life, beginning with a BA degree in Art, a MS in Mass Communications, and PhD in the study of personal characteristics and media treatments that contribute to learning from visual media. He worked as a television producer/director of instructional television programs and was the Director of the Television Center and the Communication Media Center at Oregon State University for many years. His passion for photography really began when he joined the BIPC and has grown ever since.

Jon enjoys nature photography and especially photographing animals. He chose the theme “The eyes have it” because, as with photographing most living creatures, the eyes of animals communicate their thoughts and most immediate future actions. With many photographs of animals, and especially closeups, eyes are the center of interest or a very significant element of the photography.

Jon’s images will be on display from September 1-30. They also can be seen online: https://biseniorcenter.org (click on Galleries and then Art) during the month of September. Jon hopes you will come, see, and enjoy “The eyes have it”.

There will be an online discussion of these images with the photographer. The link will be on the Senior Center/Community Center website and in their newsletter in early September. The date & time: September 12 at 1:30.
