Hi there – my photography journey began when I joined the Bainbridge Island Photo Club (BIPC) in 2013. Since then I have enjoyed each meeting and truly value the friends that I’ve made. The members of the photo club open their vast photographic knowledge for people like me who wish to advance their photography skills. I am certainly one of those who benefitted from that and am truly appreciative.
First and foremost, I consider myself a landscape photographer. I enjoy being outdoors, taking hikes and doing road trips (usually with one or more of my three Springer Spaniels). I enjoy every phase of my photography – the planning, the actual image taking, the processing and the showing of the images when I can. Prior to the COVID shutdown, I started printing my images and found that to be another challenge.
This series of photos are broken down into three categories. The first is of birds that I took this past winter from our deck at home. I’m not a bird photographer and learned quite a bit about the difficulties in this particular genre. The second series of photos are from a recent road trip to Alabama Hills in south eastern California. The last series is from a trip to Calgary/Banff National Parks in Canada in the fall of 2019. If you’ve never been to these parks and enjoy this type of nature, this is a must adventure.
When I first started photography, I swore that I would never show my vacation photos but it seems I’ve gone back on that. I hope you enjoy these…. Norm
