Grace Hensley is a trained biochemist and software engineer, and contributed to the Human Genome Project before pursuing a second career as a garden photographer and speaker. Her work has been published in gardening and design magazines in both the UK and the USA, where she is recognized for combining scientific clarity with artistic expression.
Her photography style is botanically accurate with an artist’s sensibility. She seeks out the underlying structures of gardens—good design, plant forms, and seasonal rhythms—while celebrating the visual delight of color and texture. This approach allows her to document gardens with precision, while also conveying their emotional resonance.
As a working garden photographer, she collaborates with designers, authors, and publishers to showcase cultivated landscapes at their best. Garden photographers bridge science and art: we reveal the design intent of a garden, honor its seasonal beauty, and preserve ephemeral moments so they may be experienced again through images.
