Dorothy and Bob Rosenbladt enjoy many types of photography but especially like travel and landscapes. One fascinating area that they have visited several times is the Painted Hills portion of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in central Oregon. The Painted Hills are composed of volcanic ash which is around 30 million years old. The multi-colored ash deposits provide a true playground for photography. Each of the primary elements of design – Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Pattern and Color – are present in abundance. These photos, hopefully, reflect some of the beauty of this remarkable area.
