Ecological Civilization

Author David Korten, cofounder and chair emeritus of YES! Magazine, talks about his white paper Ecological Civilization: From Emergency to Emergence, and the necessity for the human species to reorder our relationship with nature and each other. Human civilization is dying , Korten says, because the way we have organized the global economy denies the self-evident reality that humans are living beings, born and nurtured by a living earth. An Ecological Civilization would recognize this fundamental fact and encourage self-organizing communities, just as the rest of nature does, and we, as elders, have a special role to play.
