Epigenetics
Suzanne Granstrom, RN, FNC, will talk about the idea of epigenetics, the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Unlike genetic changes, epigenetic changes are reversible and do not change your DNA sequence, but they can change how your body reads a DNA sequence.
Suzanne has had a diverse career as a Registered Nurse, working in Critical Care and Emergency settings, as a care manager in home care and private practice. She has also served as a staff educator in several health care settings. She learned early in her career that our lifestyle choices play a huge role in our health.
She developed and facilitated smoking cessations programs and taught Advanced Cardiac Life Support, CPR and First Aid classes in the communities she has called home.
All along the way, Suzanne has explored nutrition and the impact of our food choices on our health and wellbeing.
Suzanne values her experience in medicine and as a health educator and combines these skills as an independent RN and a certified Functional Nutrition Counselor. Her work is rooted in the philosophy that food is medicine and what we eat can have a profound impact on our health. She empowers clients to take an active role in finding their best health.
